I was advised today what it would cost to repair our 2007 Kia Sorento. We bought the car as a demo from Kia. It has been driven by my wife and had very little off road time. We took the vehicle in to our service centre as we were advise that the noise coming from the gearbox when pulling away could be a problem with the transfer case. After stripping the car we found that the clutch and fly wheel needed replacing. I thought that was fine as the car has done 150, 000 km so one can expect this. We also found that the transfer chain was stretched and the cogs were worn. I asked the repair centre to give me a quote on what this will cost. I thought well at least the the gear box and engine were still fine. This morning the repair agent phoned me in a panic and said he had never in his life come across a rip off to this extreme level. He said he suggested I phone Kia directly as he was not going break this news to me directly. He said just keep in mind that he had managed to do a gearbox exchange for an X5 BMW for R13, 000. This is what Kia is charging

3. New transfer case 90, 000
Total repair R120, 000 value of vehicle R 150, 000 disgusting!!
