You know that feeling you get when you realised you have been taken for a ride. Well this was a mayor ripoff. I needed statements for my business account going back to 09 January 2012. On Standard Bank's website you can only play out 6 months back. I requested statements therefor from Standard Bank from 9 January 2012 up till 9 November 2012. They told me that it will be R20 a page. OK expensive but I had to have the statements. When I picked up the statements from Standard Bank the bill was R600, 00 YES A ENORMOUS R600, 00 . The catch is this - I played out 6th months statements on 2 1/2 A4 pages. They played out 9 months statements on 45 A4's. They used double spacing between all the transactions, a Standard Bank logo and address that takes up 1 third of the page is printed on each page. So more pages to charge for. I asked them if they can rather e mail it to me and then I can print it myself. Their answer - That will cost more. Rubbish what is the cost of an e-mail today - almost nothing. The average amount of transactions per page is 9. On ABSA Banks statements the average transactions per page is 21. But let this be a lesson to everybody - DO NOT BANK WITH STANDARD BANK
