Motorite Administrators
Rejected claim

The problem I have had was that I bought a vehicle with 180 000 kms on the clock, mototrite offered me a policy which does cover vehicles with high mileage such as mine but they pay out less than if it had less mileage which is perfectly reasonable. My policy covers R4000 for mechanical failure of the clutch (incl release bearing). I had my 190 000 service done and I was informed by the mechanics that there was a problem with the realease bearing on my clutch and it most likely needed to be replaced and if it was not replaced it will fail mechanically and I will breakdown and it could cause far more damage to the engine. So to save myself and Motorite money and not wait for it to fail mechanically I sent it to Toyota Howick, where they have stripped it and submitted the claim, they did write in the report that the clutch was warn but the realease bearing was faulty and the mechanic working on my vehicle showed me the realease bearing and said it was on the verge of failing. My claim has been rejected because i did not wait to break down first! Motorite told me that clutches fail at this mileage due to wear and tear, but why cover it in the policy then? This is not fair!
