Some time ago my Gold American Express Nedbank card was upgraded (by Nedbank itself) to a Platinum American Express card. The consultant told me on the phone that one of the benefits was access to the SAA lounges at any of the airports. I travel abroad at least 3 times per year, but have never tried to make use of this facility. On 7 March, on my way to South America, on a SAA ticket, I decided to visit the Cycad/Boabab lounge at O R Tambo. There they claimed not to know anything about this arrangement, and sent me to the Bidvest Premium lounge. At Bidvest they sent me back to the SAA lounge. This time at the SAA lounge the attendant was less than cordial. Her words were "sorry we cant help you" turned her back on me and walked away.
Either they have not been informed of this arrangement, or the consultant at the card division told me a blatant lie.
I wonder how many Nedbank clients have been misled.
