First National Bank
Unaccepted Accusation

A short while ago, 11 February 2013, I withdrew money at an ATM. I inserted my ATM card in the slot, entered my pin and the amount of money I required. The machine dispensed the money and then the receipt. At no point in this transaction was I notified or alerted to take my card and therefore I'm not sure if the machine did in fact dispense the card back to me. Previously, all the ATMs that I have withdrawn money from have notified or alerted me to take my card. It seems very strange that this ATM did not do this.
About 30 minutes after I did the withdrawal, I received an SMS that my card has been cancelled. When I contacted the call centre, the agent advised me that I left me card in the machine and that it would cost me R100.00 to replace the card and another R120.00 to have the card delivered to me. It should be noted that I am 2km away from my branch.
I don't accept that just because FNBs system indicates that I left my card in the ATM, that was necessarily the case. As the ATM did not alert me to take the card, this leaves questions on whether the card was actually dispensed to me.
I also find it preposterous that it will cost me R240.00 to have this card replaced.
