I came across Oakhurst Insurance on the Hippo website. I requested that Oakhurst contact me regarding the online quote. Jason Sono contacted me, after going through everything and I accepted to proceed with the application, Jason calls me back to say that my top up insurance will not R100 but R300. I told him immediately that I am not interested any longer in taking up cover with him. He completely ignored my verbal and written request to cancel the policy and I was told that my account will be debited they cannot reverse the debit order once its gone to the bank. The next day when i followed up regarding the policy cancellation I received confirmation that if I provide a bank statement reflecting the debit order they will immediately refund me. When I supplied the bank statement then they mention that the statement must be from a certain date to a certain date, it just seemed like delay tactics to me. Needless to say it took numerous calls and emails even to a consultant and her manger to no avail until I mentioned legal action then I received confirmation that the refund has been processed.
If this is how they treat a mere refund I fear how they treat claims.
