I thought the point of having household insurance was so that you have peace of mind that your household contents are covered whenever you may have the displeasure of experiencing a break-in, but with Standard bank as I have painfully discovered... it is not the case. I had a break-in at home, as per the usual... I reported the incident to the police and received amazing response from them. they came in, did their thing including taking finger prints... they were awesome. The next step was to report to my insurance company (Standard Bank) which i though that would be the easy part. Yet again, this was not to be. After dealing with a consultant by the name of Adeela and requesting all sorts of proofs of ownership of the contents including letters from my HR department and payslips from my employer to try and prove that i did not have "insurable interests" in some of the household contents, they still rejected the claim. It seems like they look for every possible avenue NOT TO PAY out valid claims. Their slogan of Simply, better, faster is a Sham... Shame on you Standard Bank. If you ever need household insurance, please DO NOT consider Standard Bank...!!!
