Internet banking transaction not available immedia

I have never been this disappointed in a bank before! Today i found myself in a predicament of having insufficient funds in my account and there still debit orders due to debit, and in my desperation i asked my sister to transfer me the shortfall i would have knowing that internet banking would be a better option for her and since we using the same bank i just took for granted that the money would be available immediately little did i know that will not happen!
After 2hrs of transfer the money was still not reflecting so i called the STB call centre enquiring about this, the consultant at general banking told me it normally takes 24hrs for the money to be cleared but that was news to me as I've done a lot of these transactions before and never had this problem before. The consultant then transfered me to internet banking department where they told me the same thing. I expressed my dissatisfaction which really fell on unsympathetic ears.
My gripe with this bank is that how can transactions from within the same bank cause such delays?! FNB has an option of making funds available immediately if you are using another bank, at a fee course but as usual STB is always the last to adapt
