Need some assistance

I applied for a loan at FNB and was declined due to the fact of a late payment on my ITC for a Woolworths account.
I applied at ABSA on same information and amount but over an 80 month period and received an SMS to say my loan was approved.
I then contacted FNB today and enquire about this as it did not make sense and was told that my information on my Net income and expenses was not captured correctly. That they have reset it and can apply again. When I pointed out again that I was told it was due to Woolworths they then also confirmed that they can see the late payment and I must wait till tomorrow to apply again.
Not sure how as I moved over from ABSA end last year due to getting a better service with FNB and now something like this happen.
