Cancellation of Policy

I took a funeral policy with African Life but received communication that it is now under Sanlam Sky. in 2011 my brother passed away and I had made a claim with Sanlam and everything went smooth. I thank the consultants that assisted me from the call centre as well as the King Williams Branch.

As the years passed the instalment became too much and the cover was too little, so I decided to cancel. When I made the claim for my brother in 2011, I was advised of an option for savings so I jumped at the opportunity of having savings.
When I was cancelling this year, a lady from their call centre said will not be getting my savings because I owe Sanlam 7 months of instalments. This is suprising because all of these years they never called me to tell me that they had not received their monthly instalments and even when I was claming that did not come up. I had never received any noticifation from my bank that I had insufficient funds or there is a returned payment.
On top of that they deducted after I had told them I was cancelling and on enquiring they apologised and said the lady I was dealing with did not cancel the policy even though they received my letter and called me to confirm.
