During December I received an sms from ABSA notifying me that my debit order for my loan will be taken off on the 26th of December. I ensured that the funds were available during this time until well past a week. I did not receive any notification that the debit order was not successful. From about the 10th I started receiving calls from ABSA demanding payment, to the point where I was told that I'll be double billed in January. I was notified today that there was a technical problem with all debit orders from banks outside of ABSA. When I asked for the loan to be extended by a month I was told that it is not possible since my loan is not a year old, which will be in February. My question now is why ABSA cannot wait the month and then extend my loan as this is a fault from them and not myself. I will not be held liable for a fault that is not mine. I have also given my willingness to have the loan extended but so far no one is willing to assist in this matter.
