I have been a Standard Bank customer for over 6 years and had no major problems with them. It is sad that now, over 6 years of being a loyal customer, money from my account just disappears overnight without explanation.
On the 8th January 2014 I made a transaction and as always i received a notification sms, and my balance was still enough to sustain me for the month. The following morning (2014/01/09) i wanted to withdraw cash from the ATM, only to find that there is "insufficient funds". I accessed my account on a Standard Bank application on my tab to investigate, and i found about 7 transactions i made in 2013 December reflecting on 2014/01/08. Bare in mind that when I made those transactions in December, money was deducted from my account and I would receive an sms when it happened.
I lodged a complaint with Standard Bank. Petunia Ntoko responded by saying "Please be advised that these are transactions are only debited on your account once the merchant has banked the voucher".
ALL My money is gone, Standard Bank Customer Contact Centre seems to be reluctant to solve this issue. How do i manage my finances with this kind of service? How do I ever trust Standard Bank again?
