Bad service

I deposited a cheque from ABSA bank last week Friday, into my FNB cheque account. Yesterday I received an SMS notification from FNB that the transaction was unsuccessful. And currently have a negative balance in my account as a result.
I called the FNB to find out what happened, and was told I need to go to the branch. I went to the FNB Midrand branch to query what happened, as that was where I had deposited the cheque.
First I was told to go the tellers, they couldn't figure out what the problem was, but told me to get an ENC clearance so I can access the funds I had, which I asked the lady to explain what is was, and was rudely told, "just to the customer service and ask for an ENC clearance."
I then went to customer service, they checked the details of my account, and then informed me that the cheque was unpaid. They couldn't give me a reason on why.
They told me to go back to the tellers and ask for the super visor there. The lady still couldn't tell me, and asked to me to go to the relationship zone. I was told the same thing there, the cheque was unpaid, and that if I need it to be cleared, I will pay an additional cost. They still couldn't give a reason of why, and advis
