On Friday 4th October I deposited a cheque for just over R100 000. I asked for special clearance (which resulted in another complaint to FNB, but that's another story). Today, the last possible day the cheque is supposed to be cleared, I get a phone call from FNB saying that the cheque has been lost. The lady I spoke to said she would get someone to call me within half an hour, which has not happened
The FNB representatives advice to me is "get the cheque sent again". The cheque is from Google, in Ireland. The process of getting the cheque sent again would take months.
This cheque is my salary for the next 3 months. Would someone from FNB please explain to me how I am supposed to pay my rent and other bills for the next few months? How am I supposed to get to work and back? How am I supposed to purchase groceries? Part of the cheque was for a down payment on a vehicle which I have now lost.
I am considering taking legal action against FNB for this loss
