I opened a cheque acc at FNB in order to apply for a smart device. I've been a customer at FNB for over 10 years. I had a joined acc with my husband and 2 months ago opened my own savings acc and then a few weeks ago the cheque acc. I was informed by their smart device dept that my salary had to be paid into my cheque acc for them to be able to process my applicatoon. I am a teacher and the Dept of Education don't allow FNB to do the salary switching. I took some time of work as we don't have a Fnb where we live, had to travel several km's to the next town to get the relevant form stamped and take it personaly to our HR arranging that my salary will go into this acc. On conatcting FNB Smart devices this morning I am told that because I did this myself I will have to wait till 2months salary are paid into this acc and then re apply, I told them earlier this week that I will arrange myself for the salry switching and then they said nothing about having to wait 2 months. This device I am applying for is for my daughter for christmas, in other words I have gone through all the trouble yesterday for NOTHING. It is not my fault the dept of education don't allow Fnb to do it.
