I have an old business cheque account that I wish to close. Now, at the Durbanville branch (I was told that I can close the account at any branch), I get told that I can't close the account, which is at the Wellington Branch.
The reason for this? There's an outstanding authorization of R2.99 on a debit card linked to this account. Funny thing is, nobody can tell me WHO or WHAT this authorization is for. I haven't had a physical card for this account in more than two years, surely you can't expect to retain a lock on an amount for such a long period?
Now, I can't close the account and I'm incurring bank charges because FNB won't close the account. Yet, FNB can't help me, now what?
