I have to jump through hoops to close my account

I am trying to close my account with no luck or help from my branch.

I paid up the overdraft and sent an email to close the account. A reply was sent to notify me that I have to go into any branch to close the account. I went to a branch and was told that only my branch can close the account and that I have a debit balance again because of the monthly account fees.

I transferred money into the account to once again to clear the debit balance. A few days later, FNB transfers the money back into my current bank account. A few days after that I get a SMS with a smiley face telling that "... Your cheque acc remains in excess. Please deposit immediately..."

I am tired of jumping through your hoops, please close my account.

PS a friendly and helpful consultant at the Canal Walk branch (Lyle Hoffman) is trying to resolve the issue and I greatly appreciate his help, but I need closure soonest.
