I opened a cheque account silver bundle in June. Firstly I am shocked at the amount of fees I am being charged on this account. I understand that there are out of bundle charges, but R300 for one month is ridiculous!! On 23rd of August, I tried paying for petrol, and my card doesn't work!! It says that the chip has been deactivated and I had to go through a long process in order to convince the station that I will come back to pay, this was extremely inconvenient and embarrasing. I then go to the Kenilworth centre branch to find out what the problem is, I missed an important work meeting and got to work two hours late because of having to go to the bank first to sort out this mess. The consultant then assures me that everything is now in order and I should be able to use my card now. So I try it, and it works. ONLY to find that on Thursday, 29 August at 17:00 while trying to pay for stuff bought at Pick 'n Pay, my card declines. With long queues behind me, do you even know how embarrasing that is!! And not to mention how inconvenient that was as I had no access to my money! I had to take another two hours off work the friday to sort this out, and once again the same story.
