A while back Nedback request me to consider receiving my monthly bank statements via email mentioning the reduced impact on the environment. Wanting to do my part I obliged. This month I needed official original bank statements for application purposes and a change of address. I went a Nedbank branch and requested a bank statement which they promptly charged my R10 for. I was quite stunned as I was saving Nedbank money every month by receiving my statement via email and now, instead of rewarding me with a reduction in fees, charged me additional fees. I spoke with the branch manager who simply shrugged and said it was a system activated fee and she had no control over it. Because I did what Nedbank asked my email statements are no longer admissible as official statements and I am required to request branch generated statements which they then use to make additional money off their customers. This from a bank that want to "make things happen" and is supposedly "green". It is shameful.
