I am very disappointed in how my pension claim was handled after my resignation in September 2010. All relevant documents were submitted by my then Human resources department to avoid a long waiting period due to queries. (Copy of ID's, divorce order, death certificate). After a couple of months I started following up on the progress of my claim, only to discover that nothing was done, as they waited for the documents already submitted to them. I received numerous requests from AFs for my ex-husbands bank account number or address. Every time I explained that he has passed away, from there the death certificate that I have been sending them. I was informed that payment could not be made if the divorced spouse has not been paid first.
I asked my Comp of employment assistance and only then did I receive my pension. Numerous calls later I paid a lawyer to correspond with them regarding the ex-husband that passed away.
To date, I have not received a statement of any sort or info regarding amount kept back that was due to my late ex-husband. Why are my children not eligible for the money due to the fact that their father passed away?
