I entered my credit card details on a website. The website said I will be debited with R247, but when the transaction came through, I was debited with R1, 804. I phoned telephone banking as soon as possible, but they said because I entered my credit card details, there was nothing they could do, I should take it up with the website. Of course the website had a broken link for requesting refunds and the telephone number they gave for South Africa was never available. I thought I have lost the money. The amount remained "uncleared" on by credit card statement for an entire week. Today, 10 days later, I logged into my account again. This time there was not sign of the transaction and no money went off the account. Thank you ABSA for the fantastic system you have in place and saving me a lot of money.
