Nedbank
Nedbank refuses to accept responsibility

Two months ago, I had R6000 out of my bank account through a transaction conducted through Easypay. I immediately went to the bank to report the. I was stuffed around numerous times before I managed to cancel my card and submit the forms. More than a week later I was sent me a settlement letter in which the bank was willing to accept ONLY 50% of the liability. I refused their offer and took my case to the Ombudsman board who are still dealing with it. In the interim Nedbank has sent the Ombudsman board a letter which insinuates that I had accessed the EASYPAY website and provided my banking details on that site. At no stage have I ever disclosed my banking details on an online shopping site or to any unknown third party. Their letter describes exactly what a person would need to conduct an Easypay transaction. They would need bank details, an ID number and cellphone number. It is my view that the person who used my bank details accessed them as a result of a weakness in Nedbank's security systems. I consider that the responsibility for this incident squarely with Nedbank.
