I was directed to counter 14 for Western Union transactions Was told by the teller who yelled the info to me that I had to open a portfolio account before I could receive money via Western Union Nowhere on Absa's website does it state that you have to be an Absa customer to conduct a Western Union transaction Only is it stated that Absa account is required to send or receive money by internet, telephone banking According to Absa SA citizens defined as a citizen or a natural person who has taken up permanent residence in SA Requires Proof of address & a green bar coded SA ID can send & receive money. Now I am told I need to open a portfolio account. I wait to be attended by a sales consultant Then 1 approaches me & says I must not think that she is just sitting at her desk because she does not deal with portfolio accounts I asked who does & she pointed to 2 empty desks So I wait then I'm approached by another Absa employee who informs me that the lady who deals with the said account is on lunch She suggested I open a Money Builder Account in order to get my money. After that I left I was livid & disgusted by the bad service & the sly way Absa is using Western Union 2 get customers
