Not informed that I have to TICA

I am on holiday in Cape Town and tried to make some internet payments (pay my maid, pay accounts etc.) an error message would come up saying the transaction could not be processed because of a technical error. I phone the helpline and was informed that my account has been frozen because I need to go into my branch with proof of residence and my id. I was not informed at all that this was required. Why was I not sent notification that I need to TICA my account? I AM ON HOLIDAY, IT IS SATURDAY NIGHT, HOW AM I MEANT OT ACCESS MY MONEY??? MY MONEY!!! I have had this account for about 20 years. The first thing I am going to do next week is close my account and my money market account.
