PEC Metering in Pietermaritzburg is exploiting consumers. The rates are very exhorbitant and the disconnection fees very high resulting in financial distress for consumers. The rates keep going up every month. We are only 4 people in the unit but our bill ranges between R4000 and R6000 and escalates every month. They disconnect even if you tell them when you will pay and charge R1500 connection fee.
