I want to raise a concern around the poor attitude and service received from FNB.
Firstly I want to compliment FNB on their advertising campaign which is very successful and is the main reason why we have approached them for assistance. The campaign paints the picture of a super efficient and helpful bank, however that is were it stops.
The ability to execute simple bank opening procedure has left me with a bitter taste in my mouth.
We approached our closest FNB branch in Fourways to open two basic savings accounts for our children.
When requested for the proof of identification, the Passport we had diligently brought in did not suffice? thereafter the copy of the utility bill from the city of JHB was also not adequate as the original email needed to be mailed to the teller /assistant to verify. Both ridiculous!!!
After walking away from this inefficient institute, we approached Capitec, who (using the same documentation) were able to open an account in under 20 minutes and issue cards on the spot. With the reduced bank charges and transaction fees this is a very reasonable institute which i intend moving all my banking to them. FNB - life up to your promises
