Really bad Attitude & unwillingness to help

I tried to open up a new account with them, and like with every bank you have to give proof of residence etc. -FICA documents. We are renting property and with that said i took our landlords ID, utility bill and letter from him as proof that I'm renting from him. The bank turned me down and refused to open the acount because there was a letter discrepancy on his utility bill-An additional 'R' in his surname. I explained to them that his ID nr and the address reflects correct and corresponds with his ID plus I have the additional letter with his ID nr on it. The Bank manager said that 'according to their 'laws' they are not allowed to accept this and that I need to submit a bank statement from my landlord otherwise i will not be able to open the acccount with them -RIDICULOUS!!! The 'R' on his W&L bill has been a discrenpancy for the past 14 years and after previous numerous attempts from my landlord to have it fixed, it's still not fixed!!! How difficult do they want to make it to open up a new account? I told her that I'm going to take my business somewhere else - she was very keen to give me back my documents and told me 'Go' open up a new account somewhere else-and i did!
