Accessing acc usingVISA card from outside SA

I arrived in Nairobi, Kenya on 2nd June 2013, for training that will last up unti the end of the month. On that day I withdrew money from an ATM using my VISA card. 2 days later I tried using the same card to withdraw money but it seemed to have been blocked.
I called the call centre and they were telling me that I should have informed them that I was going out of the country first. However I have been using the same VISA service out of the country throughout the time I had this account with FNB and nothing like that had ever happened.
I asked the Call centre agent why this is starting now and she did not have good answers and asked me to hold while she looked for answers. I told her I was calling from out of the country and had been holding for long and I did not think my airtime will hold up but she said there was nothing she could do.
My airtime ran out and I had to buy some more with the little money that I had left. That also did not get any response because I kept on being bounced from one dept to another.
I even wrote to RBJacobs on Twitter who gave me a number but no joy.
I then sent an email and upto now I have not heard of anything on my query.
