I needed to collect my new credit card from Pinelands. Standard Bank doesn't bother to ask me where to send the card, as I don't live there and have to take time out to drive there. So I get to Standard Bank and speak to someone about collecting my card. I give her my ID book and she says to me "Is this you? ". I look at her and say, "No, it's my girlfriend. Of course it's me, it's my ID book". Totally unprofessional. So I get my card and ask if I can speak to someone about upgrading my credit card, because I've had the same one for 7 years and no one has ever offered me an upgrade. So I speak to a consultant who says they don't deal with credit cards in the bank and she can put me on the telephone with the card division. She knew very little about credit cards and even told me that there is no difference between a blue and a gold card. I also wanted to speak to her about Standard Bank changing my E-Plan account to an Access account without my permission. She said it's because the E-Plan is too expensive. REALLY? So, I made sure that she put me on the pay-as-you transact option for Access Save which has no monthly subscription. Guess what, they charged me R59 at the end of May.
