Virgin money claims that you get basic travel insurance when purchasing an international flight with your card. I called ABSA travel insurgence to sent me proof of cover. The sales person wanted to sell me additional cover which I don't need. I told her I wasn't interested, (llast time I tried to claim for a lost bag they said i must claim from the airline.)The lady then said because I take medication for my thyroid I need to take out additional cover with them. They can't give me basic free cover without it. But this is why I have additional medical cover through my medical aid. She went on saying that because I took out the extensive cover for chronic medication last time, I need to take it again. I told her that my medication isn't under chronic, and that I took out extra insurance as I was sick before my last trip. Now I am 100%./ I take thyroid hormone replacement meds. Which is not a chronic medicine, But they are greedy and saying they won't insure me unless I take out additional insurance. If I don't get proof of cover before Thursday lunchtime I will close my credit account as this is not acceptable. The lady was very rude to me over the phone as well.
