1 - 2 weeks ago I applied for a Personal Loan with Absa and due to the great service and ease in applying for this loan, I decided to stop banking with FNB and use Absa. I received a call, provided all my details, expenses etc. and was told all that was needed was my payslip, then I needed 3 Months Statements, which I provided. I now got another call saying that proof of employment is required as my company can not be found. Im NOT applying for an over draft! its a normal cheque account! How can a personal loan be approved with such ease for R100K, but a simple cheque account is so much trouble? I am told that I must then rather apply at my nearest branch!? Absa has ALL my details, proof of employment, 3 months bank statements and proof of salary via applying for the Personal Loan (Which has been approved and paid into my account) - Why do I need to go to so much trouble providing details again, for a CHEQUE Account? I will try one more time just because I got such good service when applying for the Personal Loan - I want someone to get the details that I provided when applying for the Personal Loan, use that, and confirm when I can collect my Cheque Card!
