ABSA is the worst bank!

My husband had a personal loan with ABSA which, due to job loss, was in arrears. In February of this year, we paid up the entire account. Now, 6 months later, when applying for a new personal loan with another bank, we are told that we can not be assisted, due to the fact that we are behind with the loan payments and have been listed on ITC. My husband has been trying to talk to someone about this for over a week. He gets transferred from one person to the next, and then the call gets cut off. This happened more than once. I also sent emails and tried to get to the bottom of the story. On Tuesday, 8 October, my husband and I went into one of the branches and after waiting for over 30 minutes on the phone, someone in the legal department said that they will send a letter confirming that the loan has in fact been paid up. Then they said to him that this can take up to 72 hours before we will receive the letter. This is extremely unprofessional, as this should have been cleared in February, when the payment was made. The service delivery of ABSA is HORRIFIC!
