R1000 was taken out my absa account in late August and begining of September 2012. R200 was taken on 5 different ocaassions making it a total of R1000. I went to my nearest branch, absa Wynberg for help. I was told that it was done via mobile lite, which I never knew what it was, I wrote a statement and that the forensic team will investigate. So today I receive a call from absa 8months later saying they won't refund me! I was told by absa that for mobile lite to take place all one need is to belong to their charging sms notification and someone must know your I.D number, they register you, 48hrs later money can be requested from your account, absa sends a pin no. To the cellphone number registerred then the nicely goes to the atm punch in the number given by absa and money comes out the machine! No atm pin! No security questions! No proper protection for there customer account what so ever! If I do not get refunded I will go to the bank ombudsman and to the Daily Voice newspaper.
