On the 13th April I applied for a credit card in order to start accumulating credit history for future household and vehicle purchases. The process is supposed to take no more than 4 working days. The problem is that I am a PhD graduate in chemistry currently working as a postdoctoral research fellow, which does not fall into any of the drop down menus that FNB staff has available to them. I am employed through a fellowship and not a company which FNB cannot get their heads around. I have been at the bank every Saturday possible since then trying to sort the 'problem' out to no avail so far. I just keep getting asked for more documentation to prove my status and employment conditions, which I have given everything I can. The lady I have been dealing with at the pinelands branch (name I cannot remember) has just stopped liaising with me. Eventually I had to do some investigating myself to which I spend 2 hours at the branch again this past Saturday trying to explain the whole situation with another consultant, effectively doing her job and telling her what portfolio she should put me on so that I may be allowed the 'luxury' of a credit card. She has promised to get back to me today
