LUGGAGE FALLS OUT OF GREYHOUND TRAILER

On 15/2/2013 Greyhound trip from Grahamstown to Durban, luggage fell out of the Greyhound trailer as Greyhound personnel did not secure or lock trailer door. Passing motorists indicated to driver that there was a problem so he stopped the bus and locked the door BUT did not turn around and retrieve the luggage AND didn't advise passengers. On arrival at 12pm several passengers discovered luggage was gone. Luggage claims were submitted but Greyhound has advised does not accept liability for this loss in terms of their terms and conditions, but as a gesture of goodwill are prepared to offer a token payment in full and final settlement. Their conditions of carriage state except to the extent that Greyhound acted with gross negligence or intent, Greyhound liability for any loss or damage to passengers' luggage... A Rhodes unversity sportsman lost his golf club set, cricket and hockey equipment valued at R28000 and was able to mitigate the contents and value of his luggage claim with original invoices. Today we learn that Greyhound has offered a settlement of R5200 but is not responsible! SURELY THIS IS NEGLIENCE BY GREYHOUND AND CLAIMS SHOULD BE PAID - PLEASE HELP!!!
