I was booked on the 7pm flight from Johannesburg to Cape Town.
My booking was made a week in advance.
I followed the required intructions and chekced in 1 hour before my flight only to discover that British Airways had over booked the flight.
I was then instructed to wait in standby to see if I would be allocated a seat on the flight.
After waiting in a queue for 30 minutes I was informed that there was no place on a flight that I was booked on and was told I will need to wait for the next availible flight.
I think that this is unacceptable.
We pay Britich airway prices and our flights are overbooked with Kulula price paying customers. There was an elderly couple next to me who booked their tickets as far back as January and they were also not allocated seats. This is how British Airways chooses to treat its customers who take the time to book with them in advance as their airline of choice, only to push them aside to accomodate for customers during busy periods. I am left with no one to be accountable for my family waiting for me in Cape Town. I am then issued with a voucher for a free one way flight that requires me to spend more money with the airline. That made me laugh!
