We flew with BRITISH AIRWAYS to New York from Cape Town, on one leg the seat was broken at the bottom and the steel bar could be felt in the back of the seat, when calling the attendant, I was told to sit on two cushions!! on the way back from London the seats we where given only reclined by 1 inch plus the seat in front was broken and over reclined, with this you ended up with 6 inches between the set in front and your face, the only good thing about that was I could see the useless inboard entertainment screen which had all of 10 pixels as the quality was so poor. On complaining to BRITISH AIRWAYS I was told that they cannot guarantee you a comfortable flight, so tough luck, we won't refund you that part of the flight.
If you are looking for a comfortable flight, go with any of the other carriers, as they are all using modern planes with proper seats and watchable in flight entertainment, BRITISH AIRWAYS are the only airline using the old 747's and you end up paying more and getting less for your money
