I confirmed a booking for Brookes Hill (Port Elizabeth) based on the 4* rating & description advertised in the resort guide book. Unfortunately, when we arrived the unit was a dark box. A generous 2* rating at the most. Hardly the 4* advertised & described. A few weeks after lodging my complaint, I received a very impersonal email from Angela Greer stating that she had confirmation from the resort that the units were undergoing refurbishment so that is why we were put into a dark box. What is even more insulting is her generic response ' we apologise for any inconvenience caused'. and that's it! to which i responded, to drive all that way, expecting the standard of accommodation advertised & to get what we got, is not just an inconvenience, it is SHOCKING! As it stands, the reply from Le Roux Steyn is that renovations at resorts are unavoidable & they reserve the right to move members around. Surely, it is the members right to be advised if such renovations are taking place during their stay & up to them to decide if they would like to pay the 4* points already paid, for a dark box? Disgusting, shocking & completely unethical.
