I purchased 3000 points five years ago.
During the past two years, I have made 6 enquiries for accommodation, mostly out of season, and there has been no availability. This club has too many members for the amount of resort stock they hold!
My personal circumstances have now changed and I queried how I could go about cancelling my membership. I was offered the option to sell my points at R5 each; pay an agent a 30% commission of the total proceeds and wait 8-9 months for this to happen. The current price per point is R19, for new members.
a) Either provide more accommodation or
b) Offer a more effective and fair option to exit the club
This vacation/timeshare club offers very poor value for money and leaves you with very little option once you have signed up.
Arrangements like these should be barred from operating and the Consumer Act should be used more against these schemes.
