African Sun Travel is using the tagline [URL Removed] on google to direct traffic for the Shosholoza Meyl to their site on the internet. People who would like to make a reservation on Shosholoza Meyl are easily misled as a result as they think they are making their reservation directly with the South African Railways. African Sun also sells themselves off as the official travel agent for the SAR.
They add a R20 additional fee to the original ticket price. In addition, if you wish to cancel your reservation, this is only partly refunded, and with great difficulty.
If you deal directly with SAR however, the refund is in full and immediate and the staff are courteous
I found this out recently when I wanted to cancel my train reservation. When I went to the Shosholoza Meyl offices in Braamfontein everything was settled and I had my money refunded in cash, until the person at the ticket office realised that my reservation was with African Sun. Sorry, you have to deal with them directly I was told. The supervisor told me that they are having a lot of difficulties and complaints as a result of this abuse of their name. Result, I never received my refund
