Filthy train, no bedding, bad attitude, all a mess

Tourism is considered one of few economic growth zones in SA. Summary of appalling service received when I took Shosholoza Meyl Wellington to De Aar. Went online to book redirected to African Sun Travel, commission gobbling agents, Well ahead of schedule I filled in form. Told they would confirm, & invoice me for payment. I heard nothing. On website found contact number. Robot answered informing if I wish to travel by rail please fill in the application form online! Phone down. After much hunting and several none responsive calls I finally got a surly woman who did book my ticket.By now only seat available (I am 65). 6th Oct caught the train, HOUR & HALF late. Luckily upgraded to sleeper, no bedding, told SAR has not paid supplier and no toilet rolls! Return journey worse, sat on dark platform from 1h30 to 3h30 12 Oct. Dangerous? Train Manager was unhelpful, did not want to upgrade me but able to upgrade person coming after me! Then 2IC did upgrade me, but no bedding, no receipts for extra payment, fithy. Broke down & finally arrived 4 hrs late Are poor people lessor beings not deserving clean cabins & warmth? Have Ministers of Transport /Tourism travelled by SAR! I think not
