An elderly relative of my family had to book an urgent flight due to a loss in her family, being a non technology savvy person, she did not realise that she had incorrectly booked her flights and mixed up her departure point with her arrival point (jhb to pe instead of pe to jhb). The error was not picked up by the person booking until she was meant to board (she would have been flying with myself and we went to the PE airport together) Subsequently, my aunt was not allowed on the flight and had to forfeit & buy a completely new ticket in order to be present for the loss. We are Muslim people and our burial criteria are very different to other religions. After contacting SAA we were told that my aunt cannot have a full refund and that she must be aware that her mistake made during booking would cost her up to R800 off what she paid due to taxes. We have all expressed our dismay and total disregard for SAA's terms & conditions as this lady is unemployed, had to pay double in flight costs to get to the funeral and still now has to forfeit close to R1000 as totally inconsiderate of a sensitive situation, we still have had no help or compassion by SAA and Customer care do not help.
