After my initial complaint complaint, about a year ago, Vodacom responded that they are busy with network upgrades/ that my phone was the problem/ that I live in an area with poor reception.
Well it was obviously not my phone, as everybody I spoke to had the same problem - dropped calls or "congestion"/ "call failed" displays or in the case of 3G constant HDSPA irrespective whether one is in Pietermaritzburg, Durban, or Richards Bay. Sms's that arrive a day late or "missed calls" without one's phone having rang is another interesting phenomena.
I hoped that the purported network upgrades would be completed by now, sad to say it has not. And interestingly it has become a common statement (not only me) to apologize saying "sorry I'm on Vodacom".
I assume Vodacom has reached a level of market share where network maintenance and catering for the "high" user traffic is no longer possible.
What now, try another service provider and have the same problems?
