My ADSL has been almost unusable since September/October 2012. The speeds are terrible and the packet loss is severe. According to my router statistics there is also a humongous amount of errors being received from the exchange (HEC errors, Super Frame errors, CRC errors etc.) On one weekend my router registered that I recieved over 3 MILLION CRC errors.
I have been in contact with Telkom through ISP's and directly for more than half a year now and still they do nothing about this. Their excuses have ranged from exchange congestion to network failures but nothing at all is done to solve it. I have even gone as far as to report them to ICASA, but ICASA stopped replying to my emails after the first one.
