Guarantee - a myth!!???!!!

I have handed in my handset, Blackberry Bold 9790, which is still under guarantee. A piece of the cover came loose a couple of months ago, and I lost the piece before I could fix it. The phone operated 100% without it. I tried to update the Blackberry software, when the phone freezed. I logged a previous complaint on this website. Vodacom informed me that the guarantee is not valid, because the phone fell. It is an assumption made by the staff, as the phone was in perfect working order, until such time that the software made my phone to crash. I blame the Blackberry software update for this incident, now Vodacom want to charge me for the repairs. I believe that this is a common problem of the Blackberry software giving errors when trying to update. It is a fact that Vodacom will do ANYTHING to get out of the guarantee "myth". I am disgusted, as Vodacom has given me the cold shoulder. Money making scheme - NO guarantee!!! I have never used the "guarantee" promise before, and this is how they treat this incident... Very scary to think they fool so many people with this myth!!!
