Card reader not working

I wanted to purchase R89 bundle top-up. Presented my debit card and the reader had an error. The salesman was unhelpful, and made it my problem. He suggested I go to the bank and draw money. When I mentioned it is their machine not working, he arrogantly offered to go to the bank if I supply my pin code to him. He made no effort to help.
