I must say that I am utterly appalled by the service I have received from MTN.

Almost 5 weeks ago, I entered the MTN shop in Hoedspruit and I informed them that I was looking to get a new contract but that I wished to keep my old number. They said that this would not be a problem, so long as my old number was on prepaid. I said that it was and filled in all the paperwork for a cellphone and wireless internet contract.

A week later and I got my new phone but was told I had a new number. I said that I did not want a new number and had told them this at the beginning as I am a veterinarian and use my number both for private and business use. They said it would take a week to fix but I could take my internet router in the meantime.

Five weeks later, after numerous calls and visits to the shop (20km from where I live), and I have been told that to fix the mistake, I will have to pay over a R1000 to cancel the cellphone and the full 24 months internet subscription (at R299 a month).

I cannot believe that MTN expects me to pay to correct a mistake made by one of their employees? It is just ridiculous! I advise everyone looking for a new contract to avoid MTN like the plague.
