Vodacom
Personal details used for intimidation

I met an employee of Vodacom in a social setting whereby I gave him my number to contact me to meet up again. That night I received a voicemail from that same man quoting back my name, ID number, home address (as well as mothers ID and address) and saying 'you can find out a lot about a person from their phone number'. He then proceeded to tell me he worked at a Vodacom store in an upmarket shopping center and had looked me up on the system. In the following days, he took my alternative number (registered as a prepaid cell c sim card) and looked up all the RICA details on there to verify my identity. I feel this is a huge violation of Vodacoms privacy policy as this information should not be available to any employee wanting to do a background check on someone in their personal lives.

When I threatened to report him, I was told to remember that he 'can make my life very difficult' and 'the lives of any of my family registered with Vodacom contracts'. My contract is due to expire in November but would like to terminate it immediately.
