In the last week, upgraded to a BlackBerry Z10 cell phone. Was very impressed initially with the phone however to my utter surprise and disgust, discovered that my cell phone bill increased from normally about R1000 to R6000. Upon querying this, I was advised that this was due to data usage and further interrogation revealed that the data usage was at 3 am in the morning. It would appear that some programs on the Z10 automatically updated and used up more than 2 GIGS of data which due to being out of bundle resulted in massive costs. The call centre agent advised that she had no way of advising how to prevent this from re occurring as the BlackBerry Z10 is new and they they have not been trained on this phone. Is it OK for Vodacom to cell a phone but not be trained to address massive cell bills. This is not very ethical and indeed a rip off. In the meantime, I have ended up with a massive bill which cannot be explained. I would strongly recommend that people do not purchase the BlackBerry Z10 until Vodacom has adequately trained people to resolve this massive data issue.
