English Help Unavailable for Pay As You Go

I dialled 173 for help with a MTN prepaid phone's PUK. English was available under option 3, but I misdialled, and disconnected. The "English" option remained unavailable the next three times I dialled 173. I then tried to dial 808, and went thought some steps that intended to transfer me from the "Contract Phone" help centre to the "Pay As You Go" help centre.

The call centre assistant (name available) was however unwilling to assist, and he flatly refused to do anything except to say that I should call 173 again, and wait it out.

In short, it did not work; no English help was offered. I still can't use my phone, and air time that I have paid for.
